One Word Improv:
It all started with Missed Demeanours, an idea Eddie had for an Improvisation
Radio Programme. Neil was Chairman and Eddie and Stephen were Captains.
Eddie, Steve and Neil first performed One Word at the Royal Court
Theatre in 95, followed by a sell out week at the Edinburgh Festival.
Suki Webster was invited to join the show for a 35 week sell out tour
of the U.K. and Europe.
In 97 The show came to the Albery Theatre in London's West End where
it once again, quickly sold out. (picture by Steve Double)
Neil:
"The investment the audience has in One Word Improv is wonderful
because they literally are part of the show that one night"
Suki:
It's similar to music in a lot of ways in that we all recognise when
the 'chorus' is coming up and naturally know when the middle and end
occurs - but trying to go along so fast, remember all the information
and be funny is a mean task.
Stephen:
You can do anything you like. Say anything you like. There's chaos
and anarchy, yet when it works well it's brilliant.
Eddie:
We've tried to move just about every wall we can find in improv, to
push the boundaries that little bit further... then just go out and
live it.
