NOW EDDIE'S APPEARING IN A FILM NOIR
Cross-dressing comic Eddie Izzard is to swap frocks for fingerprints by
starring as a forensic scientist in a new movie opposite Vanity Fair star
Natasha Little. The stand-up comedian, who this week performed for Prince
Charles at a sell-out London charity show, will star in film noir The
Criminal.
Shooting begins in London next week on the movie, which also features
Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels star Steven Mackintosh and Bernard
Hill, whose credits include blockbuster Titanic and TV classic The Boys
From The Blackstuff.
Izzard has already cut his teeth in the film Velvet Goldmine with Ewan
McGregor, as well as in last year's box office flop The Avengers.
Mackintosh stars as an out of work musician, J, who becomes a murder suspect
when a woman is found dead in his flat. He has a three-day race against
the clock to clear his name.
Writer and director Julian Simpson said: "Striking the right balance
between light and dark is the key to this film. "I think the script
achieves it and I think the strong cast and crew will reinforce this."
